CONTACT HIGH: A Visual History of Hip-Hop

International Center of Photography, NYC - At it's new location at 79 Essex Street, ICP is presents a seminal exhibit comprised of film photography from the late 1970s and recent digital images. Along side this iconic images from photo shoots, album covers, posters and magazines, there are videos, essays, Dapper Dan clothing and Zulu Nation necklaces. These pioneering "shooters" gave visual language to the beats and rhythms of the music while simultaneously preserving hip-hop history. Contributing photographers aka "shooters" are Janette Beckman, Jamel Shabazz, Ernie Paniccioli, Glen E. Friedman, Danny Clinch and many others.
