Early on the Friday after Thanksgiving, I took an excursion to NYC to check out the Celestial at ARTECHOUSE. Celestial is part of Submerge, a new series of surreal immersive experiences called Submerge. This installation was inspired by Pantone Color of the Year 2020 Classic Blue.
The official description of Celestial explains that Classic Blue is imprinted in our psyches as a restful color. It brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit. Well, after almost 10 months of living through a global pandemic, Classic Blue was exactly what I needed.
Once inside, I was transported almost to another dimension as the sounds and images washed over me. I spent the next 30 minutes sitting on the floor with my back against a column. Most visitors were taking photos, some explored the room from wall to wall and others sat either on chairs or on the floor like myself. I have to say, this was a great way to spend an early afternoon. In addition to New York, there are ARTECHOUSE locations in Washington DC and Miami. Go check out Celestial, you deserve an escape!
