Fotografiska, NYC - A Stockholm-based photography museum, Fotografiska's new outpost location in NYC is a chic center for photography that offers a cafe, bar, bookstore and an elegant restaurant. So, it was brilliant curating for Fotografiska to include the radiant work of Tawny Chatmon in their inaugural opening. Inheritance by Chatmon addresses the lack admiration and celebration of African American portraiture in the Western art world. Her artistic approach delivers rich, powerful images of black beauty and cultural pride. By using photography, acrylic paint and 24-karat gold leaf, her portraits are ingenious remixes of the Byzantine portrait technique.
